The Universe of Infinite Content
- Subscription Video-On-Demand: The SVOD market generated $37.1 billion in 2023
- Ad-Supported Video-On-Demand (AVOD) The number of AVOD viewers in the U.S. has steadily increased, reaching around 140 million by 2024.
- Virtual Multichannel Programming Distributors (vMVPD) traditional cable services have lost 7.2 million subscribers since 2012, while Internet Streaming Services have gained 3.2 million.
The Direct–to–Consumer market provides a dizzying number of choices and an infinite amount of content we can consume.
This overabundance of television series and movies available with a click of a remote can overwhelm our time and our budget.
If we continue to graze from this Grand Buffet, the ever-increasing costs for access can become too expensive.
When our family became conscious consumers of our entertainment calories, we took a careful look at the way we access those calories and how we consumed them.
The Cord Curator’s Guide to the Galaxy is a fable, a memoir and a how-to-guide.
A Fable
The fable shows how the Home Entertainment Eco–system has grown from a simple salad bar of nightly entertainment into the Grand Buffet of Infinite Content that we enjoy today.

A Memoir
It’s also a memoir of a life spent riding each wave of disruption that created our Home Entertainment System.

A How-To-Guide
In the how-to-guide, we share the tools and processes our family used to take control of our entertainment diet. We provided an incredible choice of content while saving thousands of dollars along the way.
Our goal for The Cord Curator’s Guild is to build a community of Master Curators dedicated to providing their family with a nutritious diet of entertainment without breaking the bank.
